Bruce Bartlett is a graduate of Bridgewater State University with a B.A. in Mathematics, high honors in Accounting, Bentley College— Certified Public Accountant.
He also served in the United States Naval Reserves for six years.

- 1989 Dr. Adrian Rondilieu Award for Professional Achievement and Community Service

- 2005 New England Historic Genealogical Society. Served three consecutive terms as trustee. Served three years as Councilor.
- 2005 Pilgrim Museum and Pilgrim Society. Served three consecutive terms as trustee. Currently serving as a Vice President.
- 2012 Bridgewater State University (Founded in 1840 by Horace Mann as the first permanent state college for the education of teachers) has named the College of Science and Mathematics the Bartlett College of Science and Mathematics after he and his wife. The college produces the highest number of hired science and math teachers in the state of Massachusetts.
